FailPug of the Week

Two posts in one week ZOMG ROFLBBQ!

ANyways, this was not a 100 percent pug and only one of the members truly failed.

It was a Warlock doing under 1k dps. He was specced into Demo and was just plain bad.

I did not even notice how shitty his numbers were until I was just past the second boss. I had to lol at the percentage of damage dome by ability. 92 percent of his damage was Rain of Fire.

After we faced the last boss (we were in Nexus), I decided to check the individual recount for that fight. Warlock did 500 DPS. 100 percent of it was from Rain of Fire. He AOEd a single target boss...../facepalm.

To top it off, his pet only did about 100 less total damage on the fight. Epic fail.

I don't know if the dude was a bot or a little kid, or maybe just a fucking idiot. I don't understand how people make it that far don't know what the hell they are doing.

I could do more than 500 dps at around level 60. How on earth do you do 500 on a boss at level 80.....head exploding now.

maybe the lock was really really drunk and thought it was a multimob boss

Maybe he was using rank 1 Rain of Fire (doesn't explain his choice of spell though).

I had a mage in COS one day doing terrible DPS, but with pretty decent gear. I checked Recount. I saw Scorch and Pyroblast... only. For the entire instance. Apparently the Talents he used improving Fireball were strictly decorative.

Maybe because of how the damage ticks on his screen he thinks he's doing more dps? Also, maybe because it looks cooler to him?

Wow 500 DPS takes actually time and effort.

*mind boggle*

I guess that is kind of like the pug we had last night with an Unholy Deathtard doing 400dps in the whole instance using only 1. Melee 2. Frost Fever and some other spell I cant remember but I think it was plague strike. I remember saying to him, "hey why dont you use some more of those abilities...". Talented into gargoyle and scourge strike, I guess like Kobeathris says, strictly decorative.

Also I want to try an experiment, I am going to keybind all my spells on my dk to letters, smash my head on the keyboard for a minute and see if I can do more than 400 dps.

Maybe it is Blizzards fault actually. Perhaps the default tooltip should include both damage range and DPS modified by the current gear and talents you have. Not everyone theory crafts, and some of the conversions are quite arcane, so having the tooltip actually be, you know, honest, would probably help the more casual player base. They might still do things wrong, because having the tool tip say like, 1200 DPS, or 1500 DPS if you bother to put scorch up, or 1800 DPS if you do that and use combustion and icy veins together, etc. but at least it would be something.

Maybe he was just afk most of the time. Having sex with his girlfriend and just hit a button once in awhile.

The tooltip won't help if the person is unpersuaded by the ticking damage text numbers over the mob

1000....few seconds later....1000....

=500 dps.
