Diablo 3: Part of the Fun is Leveling New Classes

As I previously mentioned, I hit level 60 on my Barbarian and have been very slowly soloing Inferno. I am currently at the stage of Act 1 where I am heading towards a showdown with the Skeleton King. The funny thing is that all of the purple boss mobs are much much easier than the yellow mobs and the blue packs of rares.

I die a lot on Inferno and I use a lot of potions. I also use a few creative tactics. I mentioned previously kiting mobs to town if you are outside. One of the methods I have been using to deal with these rare and elite mobs inside Dungeons is by kiting them to the door. I beat on them until it looks like I am close to dying, then I go out the door. I heal up, pop back in, rinse and repeat. It takes a while, but it beats dying over and over again.

As far as other classes go, I have been quite enjoying them. I got my Monk to the beginning of Act 2 the other day with some friends, and have gotten my Demon Hunter to around level 11 or 12 with a couple of other friends. I really enjoy the different styles. I like healing and doing Kung Fu badassery on my monk. I like utterly destroying things and effectively kiting things on my Demon Hunter. I will probably work on getting all of the other classes to ACT 2 on normal. I have not played much of the Wizard or Witch Doctor, but thing that they will probably be pretty fun as well.

One thing for certain is that I will have plenty of gear for leveling.

Diablo 3: Inferno is Hell on Melee

Yesterday was my first real foray into Inferno mode on my Barbarian. I started out with a group, and that did not work out incredibly well. There were many deaths along the way, and we got stuck trying to kill and elite mob that we were unable to kite due to him being inside one of the little side instances.

I started over solo and did decently. I died several times to rare packs and elite mobs. They are not easy. Kiting baddies around and not dying as a melee attacker can be quite difficult. I am currently on the phase where I am searching for the Chancellor's Tomb to get Leoric's crown.

Inside the dungeons, it is much more difficult to beat up these mobs due to space contstraints. I had much more success in the world above. I have a nice little tip for those situations in act one.

If you get a difficult elite or pack of rares, kite them all the way back to the middle of Tristram. While there, you will get assistance killing the mobs from guards at the gate, Leah, and the Captain in town. These can provide nice little distractions and a little bit more damage while you kite them around the town square.

I did this for two or three different sets of mobs last night and it worked like a charm. The key is to keep moving depending on their abilities.

Inferno is rough. It causes you to be incredibly patient and will be a pretty rough end game to get through, especially if you are not grouping with good and organized players.

I also finished act one on my Monk last night. Going from Inferno back to normal makes me laugh a little bit as Normal mode is pretty much a faceroll.

Going forward, I hope that things get a little easier for melee. In the meantime, I will be on the lookout for nice pieces of gear on the cheap.

I have returned!

Sorry about the absence. I have been very busy with work as well as gaming. Outside of doing Auctions and a few transmog runs, I have not been playing much WoW.

I have however been playing the hell out of D3 (no pun intended).

Just last night, I hit level 60 on my Barbarian, and will be starting up on Inferno difficulty. I was proud that I soloed Diablo on Hell difficulty. Sometimes, I feel like the other players do not pull their weight and do not know how to get out of bad shit. Basically, the same problems as in WoW. I love the Barbarian. The only issue I sometimes have is that it seems like there are tons and tons of ranged players and I end up taking the majority of the deaths. Through these experiences, I have learned the art of running away and kiting.

As you get further into the game, the rare mob abilities get more and more annoying. Arcane laser beams with desecration and prison? No thank you. At least they generally dont reset the health on the mobs and you can go back and zerg rush them.

As I have gone along, I have been playing the AH a bit. The problem for me is the 10 auction limit. I have tens of pieces of yellow gear to sell, and not enough room for all of it. I have created three bank mules to go along with my two full tab stash. It is a pain in the ass.

My next step is to obviously play Inferno on my Barbarian, then I am not sure who to level next. I was planning on the Monk originally, but seeing the power of the Wizard makes me think twice.

Diablo 3 UNLEASHED!!!

Well, Diablo 3 is finally upon us. I went to bed very early yesterday and set an alarm for just after midnight. I was of course greeted by an error trying to log on because too many people were trying to log on at the same time. After about 30 minutes (sporadically as I was reposting WoW auction in the meantime), I was able to get into the game. I rolled a Barbarian first and of course named him Darraxus. Then I rolled on into New Tristram.

Note: Any Magical Items you grab should be saved until you unlock crafting. You will need them.

Spoilers after the break......the first break in the history of this blog.

The Rich get Richer (most likely)

This weekend, I did not spend a ton of time playing WoW, and most of the time was spent just doing auction house stuff.

I spent most of my weekend playing MW3 and had great fun doing it. I had many more good games than bad, and had a KD ration of about 1.25 for the weekend, which is pretty decent for me.

Anyways, back to WoW. I was doing my money making stuff on Saturday when I saw someone selling Queen's Garnets. Long store short, I bought 240 of them for around 230k. They are already paying odd very well as I have been selling them for 2.5-5k each. I am going to unload them as quick as possible, and the result should get me over 3 million for the first time.

Day 20 – If this was your last day playing WoW, what would you do?

Well, my final 20 days of blogging post. It only took me two months to get through them! To be fair, I was actually posting about other things as well and not just stacking on my blogging.

It probably depends on how you define "last day of playing WoW". Is this my last day because I dont want to play any more? Or is this the last day because the game is being discontinued?

If it was the first one, I would probably give away my gold and shit to the people in game who I like and hold contests for some of them. Best transmog outfit etc.

If it was the second one, I would spend my time running the instances that I once loved or seeing content that I never got to see. I have never done AQ 40 for example. I have never completed Ulduar and ICC. These are things I would like to do, just to have the memory of it.

I would then take my character to a fitting place for the end of their lives. Maybe I would take my Paladin Zurlock to Uther's Tomb. I would take my Shaman to Aerie Peak (he is a Dwarf afterall). I would take my Warlock to the basement of the Slaughtered Lamb.

I would take my Gnome Rogue back to Gnomeregan and take it back before logging off as the new king of Gnomeregan.

I would take Darraxus to the floating island in Nagrand that has the corpse sitting against the tree. I would sit him down next to the skeleton and they could be company for eternity.

Either that, or I would have them go out in a blaze of glory, Trollslayer style. Go into and try to solo raid bosses, dying Heroically.

Ding 85!

I hit level 85 on my Horde Warrior yesterday. That last level felt like it took forever. Seriously.

Once I hit level 85, I equipped all of the PvP gear I had earlier purchased and queued up for my first Heroics on that character.

Everything went pretty well besides me being a dumb ass and forgetting to pick up the quests at the start of Well of Eternity.

I was mostly last in DPS in the instances, but I aquitted myself well enough to not look like a total noob. I picked up several new pieces of gear including the Axe in End Time.

On most boss fights I did somewhere between 11-15k dps. I expect that to continue to go up as my gear gets better.

I am most looking forward to getting some tank gear so that I can start tanking again instead of DPSing.

Resetting Markets for Cheap

This is a real quick gold post based on what I did this morning. I have not bought ore to prospect in a while. Therefore, I have not had nearly as big a stock of gems.

Gems have also been at an all time low. Orange and Purple gems are selling for 8-15 gold each. I made around 250 gold in gem sales the night before, which prompted me to action.

I bought out and reset both the ember topaz and demonseye markets. It cost me around 6k to do so, which is fairly cheap all things considered.

I bought them all in the price range listed above and reset the price to 220 gold each. I know that this price will drop quickly. Unfortunately we have a couple of major douchebags who will often undercut my half or more.

I should be able to make a nice profit on this venture. Another positive is that the gems are all cut. No prospecting. No cutting. Well worth it.

If you have a market that has bottomed out, dont be afraid to reset it and sell, sell, sell.

Day 19 – In your bags/bank

Well, I do not have screen shots of this, but I can describe it.

On my main, Darraxus, I have a ton of random crap. Most of it is fluff stuff. The Piccolo, Iron Boot Flask, Mushroom chair, and many other fluff pieces. He also obviously has two sets of gear.

In most of my bags and gear, I have stuff to sell. Gems and enchanting materials for the most part.

I have two full guild banks of materials at the moment.

Not very exciting to be sure.

I guess the most exciting thing I have in my "bag" is my 2.8 million in gold.

Other than that.....meh. Not really anthing exciting.

For the Horde Weekend

As most have already guessed based on previous posts, my main server is all Alliance. I do however have a high level warrior on Alexstraza- US. His name is Warrbringer, and I spent much of my WoW time this weekend finally leveling him from 80.

At the end of the weekend, I was sitting at 84 and about 1/3 of the way through that level. Sometime in the next couple of days, I should be able to hit 85. Once I do, I have a bunch of blue PvP gear waiting so that I can get into the new Heroics for faster gearing.

One big difference on this server is that I am not rich. I started at about 20k or so and am at about 16 now. I bought a full set of PvP gear for about 1700 gold and bought the first level of epic flying for 4500.

Most of the leveling experience was exactly the same....until I got to Twilight Highlands. I really liked the tone of the quests, from "THIS IS SPARTA" references to shooting down gryphons with a junk cannon.

This leveling flurry is brought to you by Diablo 3. Once it is released, I am not sure how much time I will be spending in WoW directly after release. These games can co-exist, but the shiny new toy gets the attention.

Happy Cinco De Mayo

No, that does not mean to enjoy a sink of mayonaise. Nasty.

It does mean to have a few mexican beers and some tequila. Watch the Mayweather-Cotto fight. Have a great time.

I am thinking that Tecate will be the best choice for weekend beer.

That is all. Enjoy your weekend and as AC/DC once said "Have a drink on me".

Link to my buddy with the new Tenacious D video (it is epic). http://theindecisivegamer.blogspot.com/2012/05/may-15-is-going-to-be-best-day.html

You should also check out the Expendables 2 trailer if you havent. Arnold, Chuck Norris, and Van Damme are all in it.

Rogue'ery (In a Sean Connery voice)

Recently, I have been helping my wife gear up her level 85 Rogue a bit. During that process, I decided something. I like Rogues more than I though!

I actually found playing the Rouge quite fun and decided I should just finish leveling mine.

The History of my Rogue is a long one.

He was the third character I ever created. He also mostly sat around in his teen levels. He must have been rebellious, and did not want to grow up.

He got a big boost from my first RAF as he got to level 48 with the free levels I granted.

During this time, he was my main bank toon (he still is to this day).

I ended up leveling a second rogue with my wife during RAF. He stagnated at level 63ish and I had a decision to make. I deleted the 63 Human rogue to stick with my faithful bank alt Woogle. I ended up leveling him into Outland contents and took a break on him.

Since then, he has been leveling very sporadically when I felt like it and was up to 77 as of yesterday morning. Last night, I got him to 80, and he is officially a big boy now (wipe away tears).

I plan on starting on Hyjal today. I dont know how long it will take to get to 85, but I absolutely despise the Cata zones as this point.

I now have no characters on my main server below level 80. My last two non level capped characters are my Rogue and my level 83 Mage.

To the future (and beyond)!

Day 17 – Your favourite spot (in game or outside it)

Ha I apparently missed this one.

It really depends on what favorite spot means. Is it a place to just chill? Is it where you like to quest? I will go through some of my favorite places based on different categories.

Favorite Zones: Nagrand and Howling Fjorde. It is not that I love the quests in these zones. They are OK. It is that the zones are so nice looking. They just seem nice and peaceful....dont mind all of the hostile animals walking around. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Favorite Dungeons: I think that one of my favorite dungeons based on looks and feel is Deadmines. It just has that fun Goonies feel to it. You are fighting your way through a pirate lair and come to a cave with a huge ship in it. Always a cool instance.

Favorite Hanging Out spots: Well, although I dont really ever have a chance to hang out there, I really liked the floating islands in Nagrand. As far as places that I actually hang out now, it has to be the roof of the Stormwind trade district AH. We usually stand up there a have dance parties. Before Cataclysm, one of the zones I really enjoyed was Loch Modan. Something felt very peaceful and wildernessy about that zone.

Those are some of my favorite spots in game. Where are yours?

Day 18 – Your favourite outfit

The Dreadnaught set is my all time favorite. This is the version that is no longer in the game. This is the best version. It makes me a sad panda. I have both versions of the shoulders from the newer Naxx, but I am disappointed that I was never able to atain this version. If they would let us recolor our gear, this would not be and issue. I much prefer the blue accents to the yellow ones on the new gear.

I have several other favorites that I will post below based on my characters.

Warlock tier 5 is certainly my favorite Warlock set...by a long shot.

For my Paladin, I prefer their tier 2 set.

For my Druid, I really like the tier 7.5 set the best. I like the tier two helmet (which is what I am wearing), but I prefer the 7.5 set for Druidy goodness.

And for the pries, I think my favorite set is tier 5. It just looks AWESOME.

So, those are some of my favorite outfits. What are yours?
